Yoga for Body Breath Mind - according to the teachings of Sri Krishnamacharya and his son and pupil Sri TKV Desikachar
Classes
Classes include a range of postures (Asana) that are practiced both dynamically and statically, moving from standing to kneeling to lying to seated positions.
All postures are modified or progressed to suit the individual, allowing you to take the class at your own pace. This approach is therefore suitable for everyone, regardless of age, fitness or experience, and provides a challenge for all levels.
Particular attention is given to the health of the spine. The aim is to strengthen and improve the day-to-day function and flexibility of the spine.
All postures are practiced with great attention to the breath, using Ujjayi breathing. This form of breathing develops a sense of awareness and focus, calms the mind, helps to release stress and tension and will bring you closer to Yoga.

Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya
Sri Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, one of India's most respected authorities on the Vedic tradition and Yoga teachings and practice, was born in Southern India in 1888 into a family of distinguished ancestry. After a stay of seven years in Tibet studying Yoga, Sri Krishnamacharya established a school of Yoga in the palace of the Maharajah of Mysore. Some of his early students, such as Pattabhi Jois, BKS Iyengar and Indra Devi, became renowned teachers themselves. His death in 1989, at the age of 100, marked the passing of a great sage and teacher.
Sri TKV Desikachar
TKV Desikachar was born in Mysore, the fourth child of Sri Krishnamacharya and his wife Shrimati Namagiriammal, sister of BKS Iyengar. Although he grew up immersed in the Yoga tradition, he was encouraged to seek a modern education and completed a degree in Civil Engineering. But the influence of his father's teaching drew him back to Yoga. Sri Desikachar studied with his father for nearly three decades and, in 1976, went on to found the institute that bears his father's name - the Krishnamacharya Mandiram. Teaching regularly in many countries, TKV Desikachar is recognised as an authority on Yoga and Vedic Chanting.
Paul Harvey
My teacher, Paul Harvey, has been a student and teacher of Yoga, as well as other Indian traditions such as Vedic Chant, Samkhya and Ayurveda lifestyle skills, for several decades. Paul studied with Sri TVK Desikachar in India for over 20 years and, amongst many other projects and achievements, established Viniyoga Britain in 1992, now the Association for Yoga Studies (aYs). He has led his own workshops, seminars, retreats and study and training courses in the UK for many years, and has taught many of the most important Yoga teachers in the UK. I am priviledged to be one of Paul's students.

The true guru shows you the way.....The yoga concept of svadharma means "your own dharma" or "your own way". The guru helps you find your own dharma.“ - TKV Desikachar
